research/analyze/discuss three film openings from chosen genre

 The genre we ended up choosing was an action/comedy genre. We picked this genre because we had an idea of making a opening scene with alot of energy and action but in order for the audience to stay focused and entertained we need something to keep them watching. We decided making it a comedy so we could make it interesting and likable. When people laugh they pay closer attention and it helps balance intense moments. Mixing both genres helps us create an opening scene that feels exciting to watch. 

You can see how this works in the opening scenes of well known comedy/action movies like Naked Gun. The movie starts with a silly fast moving action scene where everything is exxagerated on purpose. The jokes come fast and the action is over the top which tells the audience right away that the movie will be funny and crazy at the same time.

In zootopia 2 the opening uses action to pull the viewers and audience in but it also adds the humor through the characters reactions and the way their universe is. Even though it is animated it still finds a way to mix tension and comedy so younger kids or audiences are interested.

Bullet train is another film of this genre who has a strong opening scene which we could take inspiration from. It starts with quick movement, bright visuals, and a main character who is dealing with a serious situation/ experience but it stays funny. The action is fast, but the comedy makes the scene feel lighter more relaxed and entertaining.

All three moviues show how action and comedy can work together to make an opening scene that grabs attention and sets a tone. That is the same effect we want for our project and opening scene. Something exciting enough to hook the audience and funny enough to keep them watching and wondering whats next.

• Feb 3 - Feb 7: Scripting & Storyboarding. Write your 2-minute script. Create a storyboard to plan your shot types (Close-ups, Match-on-action, etc.).

• Feb 8 - Feb 12: Logistics. Secure your locations, cast your actors (friends/classmates), and create your Shot List.

Phase 2: Production (The Shoot)

Timeline: Feb 13 – Feb 26

• Feb 13 - Feb 16: The "Tech Rehearsal" / Location Scout. Go to your spot, check the lighting at the time you plan to film, and do a test recording to check audio levels.

• Feb 17 - Feb 22: Primary Filming Days. Aim to film your main scenes.

  • Pro Tip: Always film more "B-roll" or atmospheric shots than you think you need.

• Feb 23 - Feb 26: Pick-up Shots. Look at your footage. If a shot is blurry or the continuity is off, re-film those specific pieces now.

Phase 3: Post-Production & Editing

Timeline: Feb 27 – March 8

• Feb 27 - March 2: Assembly Cut. Drag your best clips into the timeline. Don't worry about music or color yet—just get the story flow right.

• March 3 - March 6: Sound Design & Titles. Add your Foley (sound effects), ambient noise, and the "Institutional Branding" (studio logos) required by AICE.

• March 7 - March 8: Final Polish. Color grading and ensuring your transitions (like the 180-degree rule) are perfect.

Phase 4: Final Export & CCRs

Timeline: March 9 – March 11

• March 9: Final Export. Render the video and upload it to your blog/drive.

• March 10: Buffer Day. This is your "in case the computer crashes" insurance day.

• March 11: Submission Deadline for us

Portfolio Project Genre #2

 I was also thinking about doing something in the more like unrealistic futuristic side. The genre is called Science fiction. I was looking into it because I love how technology advances everyday and to imagine how the future could be or make your own world and future. This genre normally has robots, and space travel, or weird experiments and advanced technology. It would be very cool and interesting to create something that feels different from real regular life. I would use bright lights and things that create a virtual settng to make it look like its somewhere new and different. Shows and movies with wizars and scientists like star wars or harry potter etc help me visualize this. But i do believe this type of film would be way harder to make and do. 

Portfolio Project Genre #1

 For my portfolio project I have been considering doing it about something in the horror genre because ive always loved horror movies. I love the way they make you feel with tension and anxiousness/ excitement. Horror movies always have dark places, creepy noises and people trying to survive an out of normal situation. I like how all movies that are horror build tension and fear, always keeping people guessing and entertained wondering what will happen next. I want to use some of these ideas in my project like having quiet/ suspensful moments that build horror and tension. Movies like scream or smile really are a good example of this and show the vibe I could give. The fear given by horror movies is what could be interesting and simple to make. Me, sebas, and Felipe could pull it off.
